Previously it was a popular dish in Bengal only but due to unmatched taste it has won the hearts of many food lovers. Preparation Method Of Katla Kalia

Preparation Time - 15 minutes
                          Cooking Time - 20minutes

  •     Ingredients

  • Katla Machh:-   500gram

  • Onion:-    100 gram (sliced)

  • Onion:-   100 gram (paste)

  • Garlic:-    5 cloves

  • Ginger:-   1 inch

  • Tomato:-    2 medium size ( roughly chopped)

  • Bay leaf:-   1

  • Cumin seeds:-   1tsp

  • Garam masala powder:-    1/2tsp. ( One small cinnamon stick, cloves & cardamom)               

  • Turmeric  powder:-    3tsp

  • Kashmiri Red chili powder:-   1tsp

  • Cumin powder:-    1tsp

  • Coriander powder:-   2tsp

  • Curd:-   1/2cup (beaten)

  • Salt:-    As needed

  • Sugar:-   1tsp

  • Cashew Nuts:-   12

  • Raisins:-  10

  •    Method-

  •   Take the fish pieces then wash properly, pat dry and marinate with salt, turmeric and keep aside.
  •    Now make a paste, add onion, ginger, garlic, tomatoes, green chilies, cashew nuts, and raisins. Blend it into a smooth paste. Keep it aside for further usage.
  •     Now heat oil in a pan then add marinated fish pieces, fry till golden and take the fish and keep aside.
  •    In the same pan add cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, bay leaf and cumin seeds.  Please stir for 30 seconds.
  •     Add chopped onion and fry until light brown. Then add the mixture of onion, ginger, garlic and tomatoes. Saute and stir on medium heat for 5-7 minutes.
  •     Fry, adding a little water, until the oil floats on top. Then add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, and cumin powder. Mix well and sauté on medium to low heat for about 5 minutes.
  •    Now add curd mix it well and sauté on medium to low heat for about 5 minutes. Add sugar and some water.
  •     After the masala is cooked, add hot water and the fried fish pieces. Then cover the lid and cook on low to medium heat for 10 minutes.
  •    Now remove the lid and add garam masala.  For garnish you can also use some coriander leaves.
  •    Serve with plain rice.
